Mr. Hicks My fascination with chess started when I learned to play the game at eleven years old. I played and practiced chess on a regular basis as a member of both my high school and college chess clubs. I graduated from Central State University in Wilberforce, Ohio and did my student teaching at North High School in Columbus, Ohio. I worked as a high school history teacher in Columbus, Ohio and also in Indianapolis, Indiana. After spending three years teaching high school, I accepted a position with Xerox Corporation in Indianapolis. While with Xerox, I was promoted to the headquarters office in Rochester, New York. I held a myriad of sales and marketing leadership positions with Xerox including Manager of Curriculum Design for the Xerox Training Centre in Lessburg, Virginia. I have certainly learned many important skills and life lessons from playing chess and they have supported me in being successful throughout my career. I'm confident that learning and playing chess will be a very rewarding experience for your son or daughter that will help them improve their critical thinking, enhance their creativy and also bring them countless hours of enjoyment.
